The funniest thing about being an HR is you can do whatever you want and most of the times nobody questions, especially during interviews. I have generalized a bit and included some extended points to make the answer appear presentable. I will put across a few points what exactly we tell and when I say “TELL” we make sure what you understand. • Whatever we say is most of the times not true at all. You talk about your onsite expectations and we have no idea if that project is having such an option. But we end up saying you will get to know after joining the project and if you are capable of such opportunity, you will gain one. • At times of interview when we ask about your projects/experience we just want to check your confidence and communication. we DO NOT want to hear your java/.net executions since we do not know an IOTA of such things. • The most important thing being CTC, we will not give whatever you ask even though we can offer. At the same time we cannot offer more though you deserve better package because of budget constraints. • HR Interview !! enough said. The phrase “tell me about yourself”(for freshers) is the base for our 5 minutes of funny interactions. Be careful when you say singing/dancing as your hobby :P • If you ever think HR is jobless, sorry to say you do not have any idea as to how you became employee. Chances are such that you you are that one profile out of 64 profiles who made it finally. • The meaning of critical project and critical resource is same. Which actually means it is another project and you are JUST another resource. • Having said majority of things, there is always a back up available for you and you yourself may be a backup resource for someone. • You will never have contact numbers of HR. No matter what you will not able to contact any HR easily. Funnily we do not let others come into our territory. • The last and the most important aspect. Your project may have nice girls, the bench may have lot of good looking girls, your facility is full of cutie pies but the BEST BELONGS TO HR. Reply

Yes! I hired this guy; my boss and I both interviewed him. He was clean-cut, articulate, knowledgeable. We were suitably impressed and offer him more money than normal for the position. Our normal hiring date was two weeks in the future but he asked for four weeks because he had to give notice at his old job and then move from four states away with his wife and their four babies, who happened to be quadruplets . No problem. On the start day, this guy appears. He was disheveled and had longish wild hair, a half grown beard, and crazy eyes. He didn’t even sound like the same guy. But he claimed to be. We started his orientation and he didn’t seem to be paying much attention but he got thru the quizzes with flying colors. Okay. Still skeptical, we put him to shadowing an experienced call center agent. She reported back to us that he was was inattentive. She told us he said he was ready to take calls on his own by the second day. (Normally we did a minimum of five days, but oh well.) so he started taking calls. He really was a superstar. On his fifth day there we turned him loose to work on his own. I audited his calls heavily and he didn’t miss a beat. I checked his documentation of calls in the call center tool and it was near-perfect. At the end of day five, I did the usual check-in with him about how the job was going and etc. he said everything was fine. He seemed more like the guy we’d hired than we’d seen before. I finally asked him what was going on. He said, we spent 4 day’s moving cross country with four babies, two full cars and pulling a u-haul trailer. We split the babies up every day,two for each of us because four was just too much to handle, especially with the two cats and three dogs. They had gotten in Saturday and had Sunday to unpack. Anything they wanted, they couldn’t locate. He couldn’t find his razor or any of his work clothes. He didn’t have time to get a haircut but he’d do all those things this coming weekend. Now I believed he was the same guy we hired. Monday morning he showed up how we’d been expecting. But it was kinda eye opening for us. Good lesson. Reply

It is capitalized because it is the name of the department or unit. Like “Sales” or “Marketing”. You can use lower case if you are using the phrase, like “We should make more investments in our human resources.” You should use upper case when you are using the name of the department, such as, “We should make more investments in our Human Resources department.” Reply

It depends upon the project where you gonna get suck or sack(When hierarchy thinks of it then it's an immediate). And in general scenario, employees come, do their job, draw salary from their associated bank at the end of every month. Reply

Human Resource in general term itself it's the biggest challenge but many people won't accept unless they get into the real field. I don't think every company has a separate department named human resource, especially in small business. What they do is like sometimes they have only one person to deal with or they use outsourcing especially for payroll. But obviously, in many big business (i.e., MNC's) they have HR Department separately to take care of the activities going on. Normally, in general, human resource posses' a lot of challenge to deal with like: Recruitment Motivation Leadership Development Culture Talent Retention Payroll System Leave Management Training & Development Statutory Compliance Time and Attendance Employee Retention so, so and so on. These are just few points which strikes out my mind, still there are lot more to take care of. The Organization who are equipped with more employees i bet human resource is a biggest challenge for them to excel. Reply
